the garden

since being back home in wv, i have spent a lot of time in my parent's garden...and i love it.

they have been so busy lately that it needed a little tlc...the weeds were taking over, the tomato plants needed some more support, and a ton of veggies were dying to be picked, literally.

my aunt betty, one of my grandma maggie's younger sisters, told me a few weeks ago that she loved her garden so much...so much that sometimes she is afraid God might take it away from her because she loves it too much. isn't that the sweetest thing? i don't know that my love for the garden is quite that strong right now, but i think i know what she means.

these were killer...

and of course there has been plenty of cooking... bruschetta with fresh garden tomatoes, tomato plates (brian's favorite...tomatoes, provolone, onions, basil, and balsamic glaze), garden hash with potatoes, squash, zucchini, onions, and peppers....

and to balance all of those stinkin vegetables, marlboro man sandwiches via the pioneer woman (you must make these now)...
